ESSENTIAL HERMANNPLATZ
Berlin Hermannplatz: noisy, dirty, unsafe, essential. A huge crowd trapped in the public transport system walks every day across this inhospitable transfer hub in the Neukölln district aiming for a connection subway-bus and vice versa. The fast-flowing stream also provides to a number of ventures based in the square, specialised in provoking a halt: soft drinks and tobacco shops, market stands, fast food, street art, begging or, based on that much police around, widespread misdemeanor. Apart from that, the Hermanplatz daily flow endlessly shows to the camera a rather peripheral Germany, plural and bold, as if stereotype-proof.
